Queensland

AED installation and maintenance across Queensland.

QLD workplaces sit under WHS duty of care. The state's AED registry runs through QAS — not GoodSAM — and is property-only, not unit-level. SafePulse handles install, registration and ongoing maintenance end to end.

Legislation in QLD

What QLD law actually requires

There is no AED-specific Act or Bill in force in Queensland. Workplaces sit under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) plus Workplace Health and Safety Queensland's First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.

Queensland's AED infrastructure is notably weaker than NSW or Victoria's. The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) operates an AED registry — but it's property-only ("this building has an AED somewhere"), not unit-level placement or condition. There is no GoodSAM equivalent for live community responder dispatch.

Under WHS duty of care, QLD employers still need to consider AED provision against the standard "reasonably practicable" test. SafePulse does not provide legal advice. We supply TGA-approved AEDs, install them, handle QAS registration, and keep them in good working order.

Six-monthly maintenance

Scheduled servicing keeps every unit operational. Smart installs add 24/7 monitoring that fills QAS's discoverability gap.

Install packages

Smart by default. Standard if you’d rather.

Both packages include the AED unit, cabinet, signage and SA Ambulance registration. The choice is how much of the ongoing maintenance you want us to handle.

Smart install

For workplaces that want it watched 24/7.

Do Queensland workplaces legally need an AED?add
There's no AED-specific Act in force in QLD. Workplaces sit under WHS duty of care under the WHS Act 2011 (Qld). The First Aid Code applies a "reasonably practicable" test — many workplaces install AEDs to discharge this duty.
How does QAS registration differ from GoodSAM?add
The QAS AED registry is property-only — it flags that a building has an AED somewhere, but not the specific unit, placement or condition. There's no NSW/VIC-style community responder dispatch. Smart units with monitoring fill some of this gap.
What AED funding exists for QLD sporting clubs?add
Several grant programs touch AED purchases for community sport — Active Clubs, Alpha Sport Heart Starter, Project Defib and local council grants. We can help your club identify and apply for the right one.
What's the deadline for AEDs in QLD?add
There's no AED-specific deadline in QLD. Many businesses install proactively to meet WHS duty of care and insurer/industry expectations.
