Legislation in VIC

What Victorian OHS actually requires

There is no AED-specific Act in force in Victoria. Workplaces sit under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) plus WorkSafe Victoria's Compliance Code for First Aid in the Workplace (most recent update 2021).

Under OHS duty of care, employers must do what is "reasonably practicable" to provide a safe workplace. The Compliance Code is explicit that AED provision should be considered for sites where the risk of cardiac arrest is foreseeable — particularly construction sites, sporting clubs, large public-facing venues and workplaces with longer ambulance response times.

SafePulse does not provide legal advice. We supply TGA-approved AEDs, install them properly, register them with GoodSAM (the partner registry used by Ambulance Victoria), and run six-monthly maintenance.
